Hey guys another noob question.
A few months ago i bought what was sold to me as a "Trimac/three spot cichlid", and i thought it looked pretty cool, as a cute little 1.5inch juvie. I had always wanted a flowerhorn but had never found one in my area and it looked just like one, with a neat little flowerline and awesome red eyes and good red/pink under the neck and great fins, just it didn't have pearls so i disregared my thoughts that it might be a flowerhorn, but i snapped it up anyway.
Now at about 4inch or more, maybe a month ago i thought things might of finally gotten out of hand and was smashed by its ConvictxTexas hybrid tankmate whos around 5inch.. as they had been fighting on and off, its fins were wrecked and its scales were a mess, so i moved it to a 20gal recovery tank, to let it take a break, its eyes used to be a deep strong red, and they're all weird and its spots are gone.. and its once dark base colour is going away heaps.. Can someone please tell me if the LFS was wrong and i pinched myself a fader, or if theres something terribly wrong with my fish or maybe its super stressed out??.. thanks.. here some picturess of the little fella. Also can someone tell me if its a boy or a girl. thankyou

weird! GL, lucky dog.

Hey guys, i'm not saying anyones wrong, infact i find that heaps interesting... BUt.. when i first got him, he had the 3 spots and looked like Trimac, no lie.. I mean why would i lie anyway, but yeah thats what i was saying, he lost his spots when he started fading, but he did get into a fight before i realised he was fading.
Anyway lastnight i put him back in the other tank with the other fish, and his undercolor, brightened up nicely and he's a nice yellow which fades into a peachy color and its got the red back under its neck. i'll try get a pick asap

red devils have flowerlines at a young age before they turn black. He could be a JK or a golden... Pump him up see what u get
