A few days ago my Oscar jumped out of my 55 gallon tank and onto the living room floor. He's a pretty big fish, about 6 inches long so it was quite a surprise. We tried to scoop him up ASAP and put him back into the tank. He looked fine, other than being a little shocked. Now, he has 2 huge gashes, including where his top fins are. It looks as if his skin was eaten away in two spots....
He appears to be eating fine and his disposition hasn't changed too much, but I still feel really bad for him.

Anyone have any idea how I should go about treating him for a gash like wound?

CLIFFS: Oscar jumped out of tank, now has 2 huge gashes in his side, what should I do?

Got a pic? If he's eating fine, don't be too worried, he'll probably be fine.

oscars in my experience and what ive read are good patient and heal rather quickly. he/she should be fine. stress coat is all i use to repair scales. :)

water changs are important now more than ever. bad water conditions will lead to infection. try sticking to your normal weekly water change of 30% but also do a 10% change mid week. a little salt wouldnt hurt but i wouldnt bother personaly

one of mine has jumped out twice! As long as it doesn't get infected he will be fine. Scaring is his only issue, but if he's not for show it adds character.

Maybe add some aquarium salt in there too.
