I have an oscar a jag and a few other tankmates in a 210. We'll today my jag tore my oscar up really bad lost a lot of scales and looks bad. He was just pretty much floating there when I saw him. I netted him and transfers him to a 20 gallon with an ebjd. He is just pretty much floating and not really swimming. I know that he is probably a goner but do you think there is hope. I didn't have a choice and had to net him I'm supposed her survived the move into the other tank I was desperate. Can a fish that is just floating and not really swimming make it through?

first off folks that want to put a jag in with an Oscar should take heed. do a large water change, dose with metafix and pimefix, turn the lights off. and see what you have in the morning. Oscar tuff, hopefully he pulls though.

i know my oscar likes to think he's the boss and stand up to my jag never thought the jag would beat him up that bad. I don't get it why wouldn't the oscar after he's getting beat up leave the jags small part of territory and go on the other end?

She becomes more aggressive before and while she has eggs in the tank. No mate so they only last a few days then she's back to normal. Normal being mostly laid back. She will flare once in a while. She's about as long as the O but not as tall. They get along great mostly. She doesn't like the polleni tho. Lol

lol it's crazy how one fish just does not like another ha for no reason.

My oscar just had the same thing happen to him although not as bad. The idiot tried to stand up to the male jag yesterday and eat some of the eggs the female was fanning. The male jag nailed the Oscar a few times before it got the hint. The dumb Oscar kept going back to that area of the tank even though it got nipped and chased away every time. The Oscar has now been removed for its own safety and that of the eggs.

yeah I don't get that either looks like ours is the same. All the other fish I have don't challenge my jag but my big bad oscar who is zero equipped to fight thought it's a good idea to throw down smdh
