hey guys, i just got a 16" shovel nose cat the other day and when i was taking him out of the conditioning tank and putting him in the community he got a little injury.
i was trying to use a large pitcher to move him and had a net in the other hand trying to pursuade him into the pitcher. well he didn't like that at all and swam straight into the net, putting his barb right through the net and tearing his fin loose from it. i had to cut the net to get him out and he actually still has a little of the net around the barb. this looks like it is working its way off tho. the area looks red and irritated but nothing to bad. he seems to be nursing that fin alot but still swims just fine and is eating great.
is this going to heal on its own? should i be worried about that net that is still stuck on him?
i put some stress coat in the water already.
any help is greatly appriciated.
