So Saturday when I was cleaning my grow out tank I heard a loud pop from the 220 behind me. When I turned around I saw my temensis kind of floundering and swimming odd. It must've got spooked and slammed itself into the side of the tank. It's currently 8 to 9 inches, I took it out and put it in a 55 to monitor it. Will this heal up or is it going to be crippled for life. Here's some pics of it in my 55g. I think it has definitely done some damage to it's spine.

does his spince straighten out at all? hard to tell by the pics. if he is still now swimming straight esp by now probably perm injured himself. sorry to hear about that man.

If he can swim about that is the first step in a recovery at all. I have seen gars do this and shovelnose catfish. Depends how hard it hit an object.

Hope it’s ok dude, what’s it doing at the moment is staying balanced and upright?
Is it swimming around?
It’s prob best to rest it for some time and just keep monitoring.

It will swim around a bit. Sometimes it will be upright as well. But when it swims it swims like you see it here in this crooked state. It was a hard hit. If it was a larger bass it probably would've cracked the glass! This particular temensis has always been spooked easy.

Sounds like it’s a permanent job, probably damaged its spine and possibly its swim bladder, sorry to hear this.
With abit of time it might be ok or more likely just have a crooked back.
But if it doesn’t get better and looks like it’s suffering and doesn’t eat it might be time to cull.
But I’m no vet.
Good luck man perhaps someone else have had this experience with pb and will chip in.

I would wait and see what happens . I had fish with bent backs live long and heathy lives.
Sorry to hear about it good luck

It didn't make it. A few days after this last post it was swimming around in circles and the next morning it was dead at the bottom of the Tank.
