Anyone have any advice. This is my 10 inch Trop. gar. When I came home today he had this deformation in his back. He is eating and he can use all extremities. Could it be dislocated or possibly broke?

i would have to say he has a broken back.
euthenizing the fish is sometimes the best thing to do in these cases, especially if his extremities are not functioning properly. :(

goodluck and please keep us updated on his condition.

i cant find the AP thread on MFK... :(

Tough luck there...I'm not (nor are the others that deal with this often) repeating myself (ourselves) twice over and over again as this poster has posted the same thing on AP..If you would let me link it I would so you can share in the same info here but the last time I did that one of your staff wanted to be a Douchebag about it....Therefore on these cross posts I will now just refer people to the posted AP thread for detail, should they have one there and here.

I'm all for being helpful Neo (and less critical) but that is a TWO way street....Has to come from both parties.

Sorry I misread it. If he has control of his extremities then I would say he has a fighting chance. Just keep an eye on him and try not to frighten him at all. Once again, good luck

Hey people I don't give a rats ass where I post as long as somebody can help the fish. If your ego prevents that don't post on my thread for the help of the fish. Thank you to everyone who has offered advice for the health of the fish. Whether on it is on this forum or any other it is about aquiring knowlegde for the bettterment of the animal.

The gar is eating, swimming and healing. He is still able to use all extremities but is a little clumsy. I am moving him to a smalller tank where it will be quieter and more subdue and where he will be alone. Again thank you and I will keep you posted.

From what I see here, it is you that planted the seed in this thread mentioning where you would answer. If the user has posted elsewhere, then he or she should know where to look for the answers, no? Moreover, it seems that you've purposely soured the direction of this thread taking on your usual critical stance. I am closing this thread before it escalates. My apologies to Gitz21. It looks like you're doing the right thing by your gar. Feel free to post updates in a new thread.

So why do you have to come up here if you are not willing to help our members?
You are really showing what kind of person you are ... keep it up.
