Injured veija juvenile cichlid

Help! I saw my other South Americans (3 inches) beat this guy up. What should I use to heal besides melafix? Is he going to survive? If alive, how long will it take to heal? The south american cichlids are right now in brackish water.

Just curious why you would keep Vieja (and other S Americans) in brackish water.
Most are riverine, or lake species.
Vieja maculicauda, and Geophagus braziliensus occasionally enter brackish waters, and certain xCichlasoma uropthalmus variants live in brackish, and even sea water, but most do not.
