i used to keep cichlids. looks like it could be an open red sore. try using MELAFIX from API. its natural so i always try that first. then if you don't get any results use E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN also from API. just make sure you read how to use it on the back of the box first.

Blown away by the number of posts and replies, thanks for your time and concerns guys makes me feel all warm inside. Maybe next time I'll just put "Look how big my Jag of Dovi is" might get more of a responce.

Thx Moto for the only one to give a crap and actually reply.

Maybe some of us just don't know so don't want to offer bad advise? Or we could say "Oh yeah, you need to med with xyz and then after that med with xyz2".

I for one am not going to offer any info regarding injured fish if I have no clue myself.

It's tough to tell if it's from and injury or somthing else. I would do a large water change, and then treat with 1 tabelspood of aquarium salt per 5 gals of water. This should excelerate the healing process. If the sore is really bad or appears open you could also, in addition to the salt put some Iodine directly on the sore.

I just saw this post. In the future you could just "Bump" the post after a day if you've recived no response. If you alienate the members people will be less likly to respond to your threads, however I understand it can be frustrating.

Looks most likely an injury to me. Is the fish behaving normally ?
