Injury on Garter Snake

Hey Reptile guys, I have a few questions about my Garter Snake. Ever since I got him, there has been a tear in the back edge one of his ventral scales. It doesn't break the skin, but half the scale is turned up. I just noticed that it fell off, and the area underneth is kinda soft, like its skin would be without scales. I figured it will renew at his next shed right? There is not blood or cut, just a place where the skin is exposed.

doesnt seem like anything to serious, though im not that experienced and im sure the more experienced guys will be more helpful but just seems like it was messed up scale that needed to go and the scale should re-grow during the next shed or two

Put a bit of betadine and keep your cage dryer then usual. You have a basking ligth? I would recomend a small one. Also make shure the substrate your using is only sligthly moist not shoggy
