It is mostly white and the scales in the area are sticking up or missing. I added a new resin trunk ornament to the tank recently but had to sand it on every edge and opening once I received it (ordered online) because it has sharp edges all over. Once I put it in the tank I noticed a couple fish had scrapes on their sides so I took it out, sanded again, and put it back. After a few times of doing this and this injury(?) on the sajica, I finally removed it completely today. He’s acting normally and his other side looks normal. During a water change today I noticed a barb and the port acara flashing. Related? The first pic is the normal side. Is this an injury or something else?

Looks like an injury and roughed up scales. Would keep the water clean and monitor.

Remove the resin trunk and do a large water change (50% +) just in case the trunk added something; hence flashing by the other fish. I would put the resin trunk in a bucket and flush with old tank water for 2-3 weeks while doing water changes. Make sure the old tank water does not have debris when flushing the resin trunk. Leave the trunk soaking in between flushing.

Great. Thanks for the replies. I removed the trunk and did a large water change. I’ll keep an eye on him.
