I run two inkbird temp controllers, one each on my two 180's. One tank is fine. However, i noticed on my other one this morning when feeding that the water felt a lot cooler than it should be. I checked the thermometer and instead of being mid way in the green section, around the 25 degree mark, it was at the bottom of the green section, around the 21 degree mark.

Due to the fact that my other one is working fine i could do a few simple tests between the two to find out what's going on. The problem seems to be the probe. I got a pan of cold water out of the tap and put the probe in from my ok tank and the temp immediately plummeted on the control panel to about 15 degrees, as expected. However, when i put the probe in from my problem tank the temp on the control panel settled at about 23 degrees!!

Something is clearly wrong. I've had both my inkbirds for over 12 months without any problems at all until now. Has anyone else had issues with the probes? Can i get a new probe on line or do i have to get a complete new unit.

At the minute i just have my heaters plugged straight into the mains and relying on their internal thermostats. Not ideal.

False alarm, problem sorted. I unplugged the probe lead from the main unit and plugged it back in again and it's working fine again now. Whether the connection wasn't 100% right i don't know but it did the trick.

I had a problem with my probe not seating correctly in it would lose connection with it. I was able to fix it with some electrical tape around where the probe plugs in. No problems ever since.
