I currently bumped up my filtration and I currently have the following on my standard sized 100 gallon tank:
FX5
2 x AC 110
30 gallon wet dry

I have the following stock:
11" ST
8" NGT
2 x 7" NTT
7" IT
14" Fire Eel
12" Arowana
7" Ray

The tank is looking empty with those 8 fish.

I'm currently doing 50-60% weekly water changes. As we all know, we sometimes get lazy and doesn't keep up with it once in a while.

I was wondering if I should change my water change schedule to once every 10 days or once every two weeks. A respected member here already told me to stick to my current regimen.

What do you think?

you need to see how fast your nitrates are accumulating and work out a schedule from there. with that stocklist in a 100g im betting you should be doin it more than once a week.

:iagree:

You can get away with once every 2 weeks, IMO

I would say just stick with the 50% once a week..

There is no way I will do twice a week water changes. Way too much work...

I did a water change today and I will be getting a nitrate test kit on Saturday and test its level. I'll test it on Monday and then again on Thursday before I do another water change.

To be honest, I'd rather do a water change once every two weeks but let's see how it goes. My tank, IMO has more than enough filtration for those 8 fishes but let's see how the nitrates number pan out.

Also, can a UV filter get rid of the brown algae that accumulate in the tank? Because if it does, I might as well get me one.

for that stock list I would do at least 2 a week 50's. Then when you get a tank thats big enough for those fish then you can probably relax on the WC's.

I say, stick to what you've been doin..(weekly WC's). Since your doin 50-60%, of the water... thats alot, plus you have a lot of filtration.

I guess I'll stick to it for now until I get my nitrates number.
