Maybe add a couple more Tiger Barbs to lessen their aggression. Add several more Zebra Danios and definitely rehome the Red Tail Shark.

Keeping the RT Shark would likely eventually lead to most of your stock huddled together on one side of the tank or in the upper corners. The Red Tails tend to become very territorial as they mature.

I like it, no experience with the rt shark so I'd probably listen to the others, but the rest of the list reminds me of my first tank a couple decades ago. The only thing I had you dont was some neon/ cardinal tetras, but they were pretty fragile and didn't last long.

How long until the RT shark becomes a problem? I’ve had it for about 6 months and it doesn’t seem to be growing very fast. Also the only aggression ive noticed is between the 2 panda garra.

I don't think there is a designated size when the RT Shark becomes territorial.

Each fish is different. Maybe your RT won't become a problem. That would be a good thing

RT's grow to be a stocky six inches. A very pretty fish, but usually has a bad attitude.

If it does become territorial are there any fish that are similar but don’t get as territorial that I could get instead? I really like the shape and color of the RT shark.

The Y. Modesta Loach looks a lot like the the Red Tail Shark, but you need to keep at least three of them and they grow to seven inches. Maybe not as aggressive towards tankmates, but probably a little big and boisterous for a 40-gallon. I keep four Modestas. Great, active scavengers.

Your YoYo's are going to grow and thicken up. Just be patient.

Here's a pic of one of my Modesta Loaches.

On the topic of loaches how long will it take for the Yoyos to reach max size? Theyve been growing slowly but I’ve seen some at stores that are pretty massive. I’m starting to think that 40g may not be enough space.
