Hey all, I have a 10" Tiger O named "Zeus" he's in a 55 gal. all by him self. I do weekly water changes, and gravel vac's, and test the water weekly alos. Well, lately zeus has been extremely extremely agressive !!!! if ANYONE comes within 4 feet of the tank (including me) he goes absolutely insane trying to attack you, hitting the glass so hard you can hear a banging sound a few rooms away. He even cracked the glass on top of my tank, and I have to keep steel toed boots on them now so he doesn't nock them off. and he swim's so fast that the gravel spiral's around the entire tank. well I got up this morning, and it look's like he broke his jaw. His botom jaw is hanging down and to the right, and it looks like he can't close it. he ate a jumbo stick this morning, but that's all within the last 4 days. This is my first O, I got him when he was 2", and I LOVE him dearly. I have been learning more and more since I got him, thanks to this sight!!! is there anything I can do? I dont wanna lose my O

mine acted the same way untill I got him into a larger tank. He was about 11" and went crazy in a 55...He got a bigger home and looks better and is MUCH more mellow.

Upgrade to a 75 or 90 hell have a lot more room to turn around in and swim and be siper happy...so I would get saving and get tht tank..

If his jaw is as bad off as you say....he won't be eating any cob corn in the near future. If the jaw is hanging off, it's called amputation. Fish will not recover a full body part. If the fish does not contract some bacterial infection from the wound...and if you keep water consistenly clean while the fish heals...you might keep the fish alive with some obvious deformities. Depending on the deformities the fish may or may not eat...or eat effectively. That could stress the fish whick will ultimately shorten it's life. I'd go for it.

I'd have to agree. Sounds like he's ready for a bigger tank. My roommate's 12" oscar went crazy for a while, in the 55 gal. Moved to a 75, and he's more than content, even put on another 2 inches...

Has tank temp changed at all? Heater not working right? It wouldn't explain his insanity, but would lead to a more active, somewhat more aggressive O. Just a thought. Good luck with the little monster.
