ok i went to my back woods fliped over a log and BAM a snake. it was about a foot long, white, and no visible eyes.. i think it might have been molting but it didnt look like it and i grabbed it but it hissed so i dropped it and it went under ground and i never saw it again. any ideas what it was?:confused:

could have been shedding...

Could it have been a Virginia valeriae? Or a worm snake (Carphophis amoenus)? My field guide to snakes says they both like to hang out under rocks.
