I raised my male endli as solo in a 82gal tank. He got used to have his life food (mostly Rose Barbs and Livebearers) there all the time. When he felt like it he would hunt some and as the "fish-food" (literally) population diminished I would bring some more.
A few weeks ago I introduced four female endlis. Wild Caught in Niger River. Since then the equilibrium got disrupted. No matter how many fish I introduce they go after them. Their bellies are full to the top. They disposed of 200+ Rose Barbs within a one week timeframe.
I will fasten them for a full week now as I figure out how to proceed. I have healthy live fish available (reputable breeders) at reasonable price (once they know is to feed my bichirs) but I don't want them to get sick due to over-eating.
I like it better when the Rose Barbs and Livebearers made it for weeks in the tank since I could upgrade their nutritional value by feeding them with Spirulina and High Protein fish food. Looks like I will need to set a separate tank for them.
