Hello everyone! :nilly:

I'm new here and have had my aro for only two weeks. I just upgraded the tank to a 150 gal. with a Fluval FX5. My old setup is a 10 gal "hang-on type" filter. Where can I insert the old sponge type filter w. carbon in my new setup, so that I can quickly cycle my new tank? I thought about just hanging the filter over my new 150gal but the glass is TOO thick on the new one :grinno:

Thanks everyone!

I hope to be an active participant in this forum - any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd use the bag, as well. The bag (it's the spongey type, right?) probably has just as much, if not more, bb on it than the carbon, and that's what you're trying to save.

Yeah it is the spongy type that has the carbon inside (but removable). I wonder where I should put this in terms of the trays in the FX5.

To tell you the truth, I never have been able to completely figure out the flow pattern on the FX5. However, it is on their website, so feel free to have a look (you might be just as baffled as I am!). I'm sure it would help, no matter where you put it. Also, I'm sure there are some folks on here who could tell you all about it, should they happen to wander by.
