that last picture is like the standard shrimp tank with the small bonsai tree with javamos on it. But in this case its a big tree :grinyes:
Most of the time that tree is above water and the pond is very small, but when the snow melts from the surrounding mountains the lake expand drastically
 
I keep looking at these in the wild pictures and I'm finding myself very drawn towards the tanganyika ones.
Looks like I'm off on another fish keeping tangent.

I like the Tanganyika pic, shows it's alot different in places than most people's idea of the lake.

I am attracted to the Lake Tanganyika one as well.
If I saw this picture and someone asked me where it was most likely to be- this Lake would be my last guess.
Goes to show you that our "conceptions of a biotope" can become more "real" than reality. This is why we need to share this knowledge- online databases, pictures of biotopes, our own collecting and research into coming as close as we can to a particular biotope...
