So while browsing at my LFS last night, I noticed a package of Brine Shrimp eggs in a small cylinder. It says that all you have to do is add them to about 1g of water with 4 tbsp of Rock Salt and they amazingly hatch. Now I was thinking to myself "As strange as this sounds, would it be a good idea?". I feel like if I were to buy some and just constantly breed them, I'd have basically an endless supply of brine shrimp for my CA/SA's. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea?

That's pretty much how all brine shrimp work...

increasing agitation and heating to around 80*F will improve your hatch rates... but you can just dump the eggs into salt water and let it sit at room temperature and some will hatch.

Most people who try the simple version of this find very few hatch... so they add agitation... then they add heat... then they either fine tune their hatachery or get frustrated and give up...

The most important detail is you will need to remove the egg shell from teh live shrimp before feeding. The shells can/will cause constipation in your fish.

If your going to buy the eggs, buy the cans online. They're much cheaper than the little packets in the stores. I used to hatch them for my angel and discus fry.
