So I had a really bad infestation of snails taking over my 20 gallon freshwater tank and I had to pretty much tear the whole thing down and clean everything. I got rid of the snails but want to get the tank up and running faster than usual. I had previously used Tetra's safe start with bio spira and had great results with it kick starting my cycle but I need the tank right now cause I have a veil angel that is getting tore up by my mated pair in my 75 gal. They really didn't bother each other up until now, probably due to the pair getting ready to mate, at least that is my best guess, so I want to move the veil to the 20 gallon. I can't find the Tetra bio spira but have found Instant Ocean Bio Spira. My question is this. Since salt can be placed in a freshwater tank to help a stressed out fish would I be able to use the Instant ocean Bio Spira to kickstart my cycle with out hurting the fish since its made for salt water tanks? Its either I leave the veil in the 75 to get beat up until the cycle is complete which would probably take to long, move it to its own tank which requires a cycling, or take it to the store which the wife doesn't really want to do since its her favorite fish. I just want to make the fish happy again. Its already had its veil messed up and i can see one eye has bebun to fog, a sure sign the fish is stressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It was just bad timing for this to all occur right when my extra tank had to be tore down. Right now a fishless cycle is gonna take at least another 3 weeks.
