I have a 70 gal with a 30 gal hooked underneath with DIY overflows. I am going to be using this for a refugium/plant growing and fry tank
I need to soundproof/insulate my stand and pipes, My house gets cold in the winter.
I plan to use foam pipe insulation on all the pipework, and possibly some polystyrene on the inside of the stand to help insulate/sound proof the stand. I was also thinking putting some polystyrene on the back of the tank to help insulate it
I'm just wondering about ventilation of the cabinet since it gets all closed up, especially with some insulation. Would a 12v 80mm computer fan sucking air out the back of the stand keep it clear of any harmful gases?
I'm also thinking a insulated lid, since I have to build a nice one, of course gases will be able to escape at the opening around the overflows etc....I was thinking sandwiching polystyrene between 2 sheets of 1/4" plywood, and building a nice lid around that. I would also use 1x1 between the sandwich to make it strong enough. Of course I will have to integrate my lighting into the lid which won't be hard. I plan to have the lid about 6" tall. Then I will buy some big trim and trim the lid and retrim the stand at the bottom of the tank to match.
Let me know if there's anything I could do better with any of this stuff - before I do it.
Feedback appreciated, Thanks!
