Intake sponge for breeding on fluval?

Hi, all. I am wanting to put a canister filter on a 25 breeder, either a 205 or a 305. I want to replace the intake strainer with a sponge for obvious reasons. I'm having issues finding a product that would fit it.

Any ideas?

Oh, and the more flowrate the better. Am going to be hopefully breeding fishies that like good flow

You can just use any fish safe sponge. Just cut a hole in the end and place over the intake pipe/strainer.

Easy enough. Should I just use a filter sponge or something? Or a sponge filter sponge replacement?

I used a Aqua Clear replacement sponge a while back. I just cut a slit in it and slid it on. It worked great no fish got caught at all.
