Hello MFK-ers,
I have two mono peacock bass (both around 5") and my local store has a Temensis bass that i love. he is about 3 inches long. i was wondering if there would be any trouble between them. and as of right now, i dont know the sex of the monos. my fish are in a 55 (to start with) and they will be heading to a 300-400 gal with in the year. so what are your thoughts?

Im new to MFK, but not to the hobby. and would love the advice from the best

thanks
Nick

there should not be a problem with different subspecies ..They will grow faster then you know...

Diff. species of cichla mix well w/ each other. BUt tems grow extremely fast compared to other cichla and will get bigger than the mono's in a hurry and require a much larger tank. YOu would be better off w/ any other species. Orino's and bahia kelberi are readily available at he moment and would match up a bit better.

So I bought my tem at 4 inches, less than a year later he is 18inches, no BS. He does have unlimited food and a big tank but he is now chasing my orinos that are older and are half his size.
