also if i interbred red forest jewels (Hemichromis lifalili) and cons or kribs. would trhis work?

and does it matter which species the famale should be or male?

thnx in advance

Convicts are Centeral American cichlids whilst Jewels and Kribs are African. There is no way for these two fish to breed together.

Its probably the same as asking a Gorilla and a Giant Panda to mate.

I'm not speaking from experience nor education...

But I don't believe that a West African Cichlid (Jewel) will cross with a Central American Cichlid (Convict)...

Convicts are willing to breed with anything... but I think biology is working against this one...

A lot of people mistake West African River fish for SA or CA as these rivers have similar water conditions to SA/CA... but much much different than the African rift lakes...

I've been keeping Jewels as Dithers with my SA/CA Cichlids for a while... they work great...

But I digress... this is in the breeding section...

i dont think that cons and jewels will breed, nor will cons and kribs.

breed pure strains !

lots of africans will interbreed. red zebs and electric yellows.
most psuedotropheus species will interbreed with eachother.
