Interesting cats for less than 40g tank

Post 'em if you got 'em. Scientific names and pictures would be much appreciated. If you see someone else has already posted your suggestion, try to avoid duplicates please. NOTE: Must be able to be maintained in a 40g or smaller tank FOR LIFE, not just for a while and then require upgrading. Thanks in advance!

Was hoping for something a bit larger than that. I'd like a single "large" (at least large for the size of the tank) catfish as a focal point for the tank with a small grouping of some kind of tetras as a backdrop if possible.

You could do a gulper cat, but you wouldn't be able to keep anything small with it. That kind of goes for any catfish though ... always a risk.

You could do a bullhead as well.

I think a gulper cat would get too big for a 40

They get 11". That might be pushing it. But I don't know tank dimensions or bioload data of them.

Edit: Found somewhere they are recommended a larger tank due to bioload I'm guessing. about 75 gal or so.

Most footprints for a 40 gallon tank I can find are 3 feet long, and having a 1 foot fish in a 3 foot long tank is probably too much
