He is a Xanthic Mastacembelus, or an xanthic spiny eel. I believe this one is a fire eel.
They are not actually not technically eels but an elongated fish.

Edit: Looking at it agian, it could also be a Mastacembelus Unicolor. Is someone able to confirm the species?

I don’t know too much about these guys tbh. It was sold to me as a xantic fire eel. I’ve never seen one in person and just had to have it. Seems to be very shy but starting to come to the front of the tank now when it sees me like it knows I’m goin to feed it. This guy loves tilapia chopped into small bits. I also saw it acting aggressive towards feeder minnows I feed to its tankmate; platinum Florida gar.

Very very cool pickup. Get that guy some PVC pipes to hide in if you are keeping him bare-bottom, normally they bury themselves and from what I've seen they do much better with sand on the bottom.
There’s a piece of drift wood in the tank it’s been using to hide. I actually catch it sitting out in the open a lot until it gets spooked by movement. But once it knows it’s me with the food it always comes righ up to front of the glass
