i have a 1" jag juvenile living with my frontosa grow outs, and i've been trying to wean him onto pellets and stuff that my frontosas are chowing down on. so far he's been pretty resistant.
lately i've noticed him hanging around this top corner of the tank, and at first i thought he was sick or was staying up there to fight the current from the filter. this morning he was still in that corner, and i was watching him while eating breakfast. there were a ton of ants in that top inside corner of the tank (it's acrylic) for some reason, and i was watching the jag and all of a sudden that little guy launches himself at the group of ants just above the surface (probably all 2-3mm :D) and to my amazement swims away chewing on an ant or two! :headbang2
i just thought that was the coolest thing i've seen from my fish for a while haha

i have no clue what the ants were doing - probably eating some fish crud that was stuck there. i have this huge infestation of those 6 legged bastards in my house that the RAID and what not wont kill
i guess my jag is just doing his part to be part of the solution :D

haha just be careful though caus if any of the raid gets consumed by your jag (through eating a poisoned ant) then theres a fairly good chance he will die

Wow thats awesome, now i am going to introduce a colony of ants to my jag/convict growout tank, lol.

heh, my jag used to do that to termites. he's eaten pellets ever since he we small. think his instinct took over.
