Interesting phone scam

I just got a call from this number 1-866-398-3474

It said my credit card account had been locked. If I wanted to unlock it press 1. Just for grins I pressed 1, it then told me to enter the credit number ( I hung up at this point).

After googling the number... it shows it belongs to dish network(I don't even have dish).

I think this may the first I got a scam call like this on my cell phone.

call them back and tell them that you are the fire department and that their house is on fire

and to give you their credit card number if they want you to put out the fire

The phone number displayed on caller ID is blind. It takes the data thrown down the line and "trusts" it.

The data can be spoofed and almost always is. So, its probably not from Dish. You need to *69 or call your phone company to get the actual number that connected to make the call.

This sounds like a deal. Is this a weekly fee or bi-weekly fee?

I don't have a way to get a check to you so I'll just give you my bank account number here. Don't worry, I'll talk to my bank and tell them not to put any blocks up.
