My rainbow shark grooms my senegal bichir every so often... Like a cleaner wrasse. It doesn't seem to be hurting the bichir at all, pretty cool!

Or... he is eating the slime coat of the bichir. Some people love rainbow/red tail sharks, but I find them to be aquarium nuisance. Very aggressive for no reason. A 2" one bullied some 8" goldfish I had and bruised them horribly. I could be wrong but it seems to me your shark is just eating slime coat. Bichir are pretty tough fish, but I doubt he will make a move to eat the shark... to fast for him.
yeah I strongly dislike the sharks even though I love the way the albinos look. As far as a bichir not going for them I had a bully rainbow shark that I had enough of him harassing my other fish so I tossed him into the bichir tank and he tried to harass one of the bichirs(I think my 6" ornate) all it took was one lunge and the rainbow shark behaved from then on
Yeah that's bad he's definitely nibbling at his slime coat. I wonder if bichirs like it or something since they seem so strangely fine with it.
