So I've had god awful luck with FH. My avatar was my first and very good looking male as most people saw lost that to a prolapsed anus. Ended up picking the last fish my LFS had from that batch that was around 3". This was in mid August and still am unsure of the fishes sex and hasn't grown much about 4" now. I really want a nice male show piece for the 90 gallon tank. Ended up buying three kamfa fry mid August with the largest at 2" smallest .75" These fish are not anything special qualty wise just wanted to see if I'd get lucky with one. These fish have all grown significantly with the largest one growing to almost 4". These are all males or at least showing signs of beingn one. Last week went to the LFS and they had another batch of FH and were beat up from shipping. Saw a nice 5" no doubt male but was lacking kok I think due to being beat up from shipping. I figure these are from the same fish as the one I previous had that died that was beginning to grow a decent kok. Now since I threw him in the 90 gallon with the 4 other smaller FH he hasn't eaten and regularly is showing stress bars. I figured he would of tore everyone up and I'd have this nice show piece male RD. I'm at the point now that the largest Kamfa is dominating him. Is that even possible?

With all the $$$ spent on these lesser quality fh you could have just got a decent one from somebody in the know. Better than hoping a crap fish will become a quality fish.

I would say a very good quality of FH , just a one in the tank... That should be already MP in owner's eyes!

If you have spare 10g or bigger one, just one fry, where you want to see ur luck that how he/she would turn , if he/she really growing good, have an idea and plan to provide him a bigger space later

That I WOULD do. Rather purchasing lower ones with the same amount, I would purchase the solid one to eliminate any frustration in future. The spare 10g tank for checking my luck.
All the best!!!

May of isolated it to a heater thats been unplugged for a week water temp was ~72. I normally run this tank around 82-84. Checked this morning with the light off the big male looked more active and not super dark and stressed. The whole tearing the other fish up comment I guess I used out of context. As soon as he starts to assert his dominance I will be rehoming the other FH's. Although I would like to keep the smaller unkown RD in the tank since it is goregous in color and they seem to get along (we'll see how long that last). And as for the money spent on the lesser FH I probably should of bought a more expensive one. Right now I am about $108 in on FH's. Firsy RD was $40 second unkown sex RD was discoutned for $25 the three Kamfa fry were $18 and the last RD discounted due to a scrape on the lip from $40 to $25. I wanted to get a cheaper one to learn on then for my next fish no doubt by a high quality fish. I would of been pissed if I lost a $250 FH to a prolaspsed anus because I didnt know that FH require some veggie food to offset the NLS and Hikari.
