well i did it. i finally made the jump from Brackish to SW. i had been pushing the SG up for a few weeks. ive not added any 'marine' equiptment yet, but i am hoping to build a sump soon, when i have some spare money.

but as of now the filter as a Fluval 4+ and it rated up to 1000 lph. the tank is a 29 gallon and has play sand for substrate (from the brackish setup), and 10kg/ 22lbs of live rock which i added yesterday which was cured.

live stock is a small green spotted puffer, with a hermit crab and about 20 starfish that have appeared from the rock. although i dont fancy their chances with the puffer.

i also found a soft coral on one of the pieces of the rock. i dont know what it is... if the puffer doesnt eat it what are my chances of keeping it? im only running 50w of light. 25w marine white and 25w actinic T8 florecent bulbs...

heres some pics anyway. 1st is brackish setup, 2nd is with live rock, last is of the coral/anemone i found.

That is not enough light to keep any coral alive. That is less than 2 watts per gallon. If you know a LFS that sells coral, I'd remove it and give it to them a.s.a.p. so you don't kill it.

i didnt think it was enough light... so i'll take it to the lfs as soon as i can, assuming the puffer doesnt get it.

or if anyone near me wants to take it they can. someone may as well get some enjoyment from it... as i have no use for it.

any info on my filter situation though? will i be ok for the time being? my BB should be ok, as i started to raise the SG 0.001-2 a week about a month ago. i do weekly 25% water changes.
