Hi all I have a 280 litre aquarium my external filter is making lots of noise I can't fix it could I run my aquarium using two internal filrters a fluval u4 and a interpet pf3 aquarium is 4ft long and has 7 yellow labs 4 yellow tail acei 1ob peacock 1sulphur head 1 strawberry peacock

You could if you wanted to. Though, I have a u4, and have only used it as a supplemental filter; I don't think it's the greatest filter ever. When you take it out to clean it, the gunk inside invariably spills out into the tank. Plus I have found that after time the gph diminishes quite a bit. Personally prefer HOB like aquaclear. But if you really wanted to use those two filters, the gph should be adequate.

Thanks for the advice my external filter is a crystalprofi 1901 made by jbl was working great but shifted it to a new aquarium and it has become very noisy might be air trapped I've taking it apart and tried again but still the same also tried shaking it
You might need to replace the impeller if it's making a rattling noise. Could also be air trapped in the motor; try rotating the filter around while filled and sealed, turning it on for a minute here and there, to try and pump the air out. Also could try replacing impeller if it doesn't look perfectly straight, also can try lubricating the magnet attached to impeller and bottom of impeller.

I'm certain it's air trapped it's making a humming and gurgling sound a few shakes used to sort it out before I'll keep at it

I'm not sure, but I'd definitely suggest taking out and cleaning the impeller. Btw, I'm not sure why you keep making posts with just quotes of other people's posts with no actual content.

You may need to really brush out the impeller chamber, it may be that something as small as a grain of sand has lodged in the volute. I regularly take a brush to every component of a HOB filter including removing the impeller and really scrubbing out the chamber.
It may be, from your description of having to shake the filter over time, that something has got in and scoured the impeller making it wobble which can cause wear and cavitation (a crackling, grinding sound) and as Gourami Swami said, the need to replace the impeller or volute may be what it takes.
Although the cost of parts sometimes makes just buying a new filter cost effective.
On the pump impeller below, a few grains of play sand got in (I now never use play sand) and ruined the impeller shaft.

For the pump, the impeller was around $30, but a replacement pump over $100.

Below (I know its hard to see) a wobbling impeller carved a fig 8 on the pump chamber ruining the entire pump.

and below a snail caught in between the impeller and volute, ruined the volute
