internal over flow boxes

I'm buying a 180 gal acrylic tank used that has no overflow box inside, My question is do I even need one if I use a schedule 80 stand pipe,
I'm using a sump type filter and dont want to use hob overflows, been there flooded that.

If you flooded then you did something wrong.

If it is acrylic then, besides enjoying the scratches forever, just drill the back and use black PVC elbows to drain.
