The internal Overflow box in my acrylic tank is leaking where it seals to the bottom of the tank. I've tried both weld-on 4 & 16. The weld-on 16 has fixed most of it, but the box still has a few leaks, allowing water to drain into my overflow.

I was thinking of using j-b water weld as the next fix because the weld-on 16 apparently isn't giving me enough filler to close the leaks.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what to try next? Help!

Add more 16. It will fill. Add it, test it again, if it fails add more. Do inside and outside of the box.

I've read that adding 16 over seams actually weakens them? And I have made a couple passes over the leaking spots already, but maybe not enough?

You are trying to seal it. The overflow seams do nothing for the structure of the aquarium. Won’t make a difference if the seams get weaker as the overflow won’t expierience that kind of pressure to separate even the weakest of seams. You could even use silicone for this job but it will look bad.

Already tried silicone, but it didn't adhere well enough to prevent water leakage.

Even with small leaks at the bottom of where the box sits on the aquarium, it won't completely empty my tank should the power go out, correct? Won't it just drain down to my lowest standpipe and then stop draining down to my sump?
