I have once clown loach die from internal parasites. The loach was taken out of the tank and placed ER tank, where he died. Should I still treat the whole tank 55g for internal parasites? I have needlenose X 2, clown knife, and clown loaches X 4, and my alge fish.

thanks.

It depends on the type of parasite and if the loach caught it after you bought it or before. if you still have the fish do a necropsy on it's intestines. Did the fish have a hollow belly or a distended one. You will be looking for worms or a grayish slime in the intestines. Unless you find those it is probably best not to treat the tank as different pathogens need different treatments.

I'm really not sure everything that I have read, points to worms. He stop eating, and was always near the top of the tank. All the other fish eat like pigs, I always watch them when I feed them, so I know that everyone else eating. I was told to put levamisole hydrochloride in the water the after 24 hours do a big water change, then repeat in 3-4 days. I don't know what I should do.

thanks

If they were round worms then your algae eater and othe loachs might be at risk. You can use a product that contains either levanisole or praziqantel (corys don't tolerate praziquatel very well), just be sure to read and follow the instructions on the product carefully. Neither is more effective against the worms at higher doses but both can be lethal to fish if you overdose. Of the two praziquantel is more effective against a wider variety of parasites but it is also easier to OD with, measure carefully and do not exceed the manufacturers recomende dosage, do not use either product on fry.

They won't cure them I think, but it is a minor vermifuge which will slow their propogation and help prevent initial infection.
