Internal Parasites

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Praziquantel in any brand works just fine however the powdered form tend to be a bit difficult to measure and then administer. 2.5 mg per liter is the recommended dosage. That's about 1/8 teaspoon of powder.

Here's the instructions for prazi usage.

* Remove carbon.
* Add 2.5 milligrams per liter of water.

* If you are using the powdered version, it is difficult to dissolve. Predissolve in tank water by shaking it up in a small container.
* Dosing
Day 1 -- remove carbon, perform water change with vacuuming, and add Prazi to tank
Day 2 -- add Prazi
Day 3 -- do nothing
Day 4 -- do nothing
Day 5 -- do nothing
Day 6 -- add Prazi
Day 7 -- add Prazi
Day 8 -- normal partial water change with vacuuming
Day 14 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 21 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 28 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 35 - normal partial water change, add carbon, treatment is complete

Wow, lots of not so good advice imo.
First: what parasites are you treating for?
Different meds have different range of action. No point at all in wasting time or risking ray health by treating with a med that might do nothing at all to the parasite you (think you may) have.
There is never any need to increase an antiparasite medication above standard recommended doses. They all work just fine when used correctly.

praziquantel and metronidazole are 2 of the safest meds on the market. prazi kills worms and metro kill intestinal bacteria. its a great way to get the gut clean. you may not agree but it has worked for me many times. i do it just as a preventative regardless of what the ray has/doesnt have.
