Hey Guys,

I picked up a Flower Ray about a month and a half ago. When i Got him he was noticeably Skinny but I had reason to belive he just was not being fed enough. I have fed Him and and My Motoro Raw Shrimp twice a day since i brought him home. While he gained some weight, his stomach always looks caved in a bit and my Motoro is the definition of Fat Slob. I have never dealt with parasites and i never get a good view of the Flowers Feces.
There is also a Silver Arowana and Peacock Bass in the tank. I change 100 gallons of water weekly so water parameters ect.. are not the problem.
here is a pic of the little guy, i was really hoping he would become the star of the tank one day. Does anyone have expericence treating parasites? does this sound like parasites? what should i do?

its not parasites just feed it lots.my question to you my friend how long did it take to train that flower to eat shrimp.i cant get mine to take them yet and looks about th same size as yours.

if you want that ray to gain lots of weight buy a case of 1000 nightcrawlers or big earth/dew worms.up here we can get them for $100 for 1000.you guys probably can get them way cheaer than that.its very hard to feed rays worms with a peacock bass in the tank,i learned from experience the hard way.bass literally will not stop eating live worms making it very hard for them to ever hit th bottom and last long eneough for the rays to get.

looks to be in decent shape, just keep on feeding. Seem to be acting OK? eating aggressively?

He will eat about 2 raw medium shrimp MAX per feeding (feeding 2x a day)

Very active, sometimes swims like a maniac but not graceful like the much calmer easy going Motoro. One problem is the Motoro likes to bite at the flowers disc and it freaks the flower out. I hope this stops eventually.

I started my Motoro on Nightcrawlers. The motoro was so greedy for the nightcrawlers he started climbing the tank to take from my hand. One day i decided to hold raw shrimp and nightcrawlers in the same feedings, eventually he started to love the shrimp and now only eats shrimp with the occasional nightcrawler snack. Walmart sells 20 nightcrawlers for $2.99.

When i Got the Flower i didnt know what he would eat, I think he saw the Motoro eating Shrimp and now the Flower aggressively goes after Shrimp. one of the main problems i have is the 2 rays will fight each other over 1 piece of shrimp even if i dump 6 or 8 in at the same time. I think this is where the flower takes most of his damage as the motoro is a fat beast.

No worries with the Bass, he watches the Earthworms drop past his face and he wont touch them (he has never eaten live in his life). However when i put pellets in there i cant close the glass fast enough and i get splashed like im at seaworld or something.

I am glad you dont think the ray has Parasites. I will continue to power feed him, i just hope the Motoro stops picking on him or i will have to sell him for his own safety.

OK, I am positive my Flower Ray has Internal parasites. He does not eat at all, best he will do is chew even broken pieces of shrimp i chopped so he could swallow easier and spit them out. He is showing major signs of starvation (hips, dent in head) I need to treat but I dont know what to do? please anyone with experience? does the Jungle Lab Parasite clear work?? how many boxes would i need to treat 240 gallons? Tankmates are 3 other healthy fish (Silver ARO, Tem Bass, Motoro ray)

Please anyone with experience please chime in./

Prazi pro by Hikari works really well to clear rays of internals. You should be able to pick it up at most any local shop and it wont hurt your other fish. Just make sure you get your carbon out of your filter. best of luck buddy
