What is the deal!! you can' try to sell anything on here without a bunch of fools tryig to get your money throgh a scam. This is what I mean.

I have been trying to sell some stuff for a while now. I listed most of it here. Then when that didn't work I tried CL. Tha'ts where the problems start. First I get a bunch of E-mail from people saying "how's your day... If it's good thank God" (i'm not sure why these people have to use relligion as a weapon) Then they tell me all this crap about how they are out of the country and wish me to ship my items to nigerea and where ever else. Hell I almost fell for it. Untill I started getting a bunch of Fake paypal e-mails. I ended up calling paypal b/c I didn't think something was right. They tell me to forward the fake e-mail to them and they would look it over. And sure as hell less then 20 min later I get an E-mail from Paypal saying it was a fake. So now I e-mail this guy and tell him that he's a fony and I'm not falling for the game. He has the balls to send me BACK another e-mail saying that I'm right it was a scam. Then about 3 days later He sends ANOTHER fake Payapl e-mail that says I have legal action pending against me b/c Of not sending the item. So I again forward th E-mail to paypal and AGAIN 20 min later sure as hell another fake. Finally this guy leaves me alone.

Then I have this other guy that tells me that He's sending me a check and I am to cash it package the item and send it to his shipper (yeah right) so I blow this guy of. And forget about him. Afew days later I get a FedEx tracking number from him that that he says is the check. And I am to cash it package the item and send it to his shipper. He includes the address. And the check would have $100 extra for my time. (yeah right) So I get ahold of FedEx and tell them that I have no want for this package and Asked if they could sned it back. They say yes. So I'm like send that SOB back I don't want it. Now I have to get ahold of this guy and tell him that if he's real (he's not) that He's going to need to send me paymeny through Paypal. and nothing else.

You just can't trust anyone that you can't see I guess. I hate tryig to sell stuff on the internet. I remeber about 3 years ago when You could sell stuff on ebay all day and people woulld acctually send you payment without wanting your personal info. lol Oh those were the days.

I'm just glad I got a citiFinancial (sp) ID theft and credit monitoring.

Yeah its everywhere. You just gotta know what to watch out for and you will be fine. SInce you've gotton some experience now you should know how to spot what is fake. NEVER send anything without payment in your hands 1st. Also, NEVER click links in emails, if anything has to do with paypal, always opena browser and log in and check it out. Also, do what you did, call, send emails etc to see if it checks out.

Theres alot more clever scams out there, I know how to spot alot of them. Also, Paypal will always address you by your first and last name. Fake paypal emails will only say " Dear User" or " Dear Member" etc. Paypal always will address you by your name, like " Dear ( 1st name, Last name)".

I almost fell for it too. In my case, it was trough Western Union money order. I got the e-mail saying a money order was waiting for me and that I should send the item out once I get the e-mail.

Me being the naive one, packed the laptop and dropped it off to the nearest mailing place. Then I come back to work, did some research and found some stuff about the Nigerian scammers which coincidentally was where my laptop was going to be sent.

I ended up calling the forwarding company. The package was ready to be loaded to the plane going to Nigeria. I had to talk to an airline employee and they believed me that I was almost scammed out of my laptop. Two days later, I picked up my laptop from the same one that I dropped it off.

After that, I was always extra careful when I get e-mails regarding money order and the whole check story being send to me.

Boy was I glad I was able to intercept the shipment of my laptop.

You guys got very lucky. Heres another tip: You can always do some internet research on some scams. Theres complaints all over the net on just about every scam out there. The trick with the western union is, the money orders are fake, they look real and you deposit them thinking you got paid, and by the time the bank gets back to you and lets you know they are bogus, you have already sent of your item. Some scammers tell you specifically to deposit these money orders in your BANK, and nowhere else. Because with banks it takes some time to clear, check cashing places can verify on the spot.

This same exact thing happened to me. I caught it pretty easy because I listed two items within 5 minutes of each other. Then I got 2 identical emails saying the same thing, and from 2 different email addresses, 1 for each item. I emailed the guy and girl back the same email asking for more info like a mailing address and telephone number and they never replied.

The first paypal e-mail I got had my name on it! When I did some reasurch before I called Paypal they said on there how to avaid scams FAQ that they wouldn't have my name. This is one of the things that made me want to call more. When I told them that it had my name but the FAQ said it wouldn't have that they said We know they are getting better at the "spoof" e-mails. So Even if it's got your name on it still be carefull.

One thing i did find out though If someone sends you money but it will be held untill the item is shipped. (New policy with electronics I guess) The money will be in your paypal acount but not accessable. But if your account has Zero activity it's also a fake.

I didin' understand why I didn' have any activity when The Fake e-mail said I had money. That's why It was fake I guess.

i recently had some muppet try to get my email login info, password and all. so they could do some account maintenance. like im that dumb. it was from the internetserviceprovider.net or something like that with no mention of my isp.
ive won the international lottery about 50 times and i should have about $1 bn in my account even though im not american, dont live in america, so the $ cant pay my bills, and the us dollars is a prize from europe (yes i dont understand either).
i always deal with paypal and nothing else. if i sell something or buy something its paypal only. no cheques or cash on delivery cos you dont know who is waiting for you at the other end.
at least with paypal your covered if it goes wrong. which has happened to me.

another dead give away to scam emails or letters is bad spelling and bad grammar. businesses will always have letters proof read and will not allow contact like this to go out. its simple grammar though, like im instead of I'm, not more complex grammar mistakes that most of us make everyday.
oh and bloody canadian pharmacies. im 25 i dont need cheap viagra lol. and people ive never heard of saying they enjoyed last night (wtf??), and its not just women which makes it that little bit more frightening lol. wanting me to click a link or attatchment thats the right size for a virus.
