This might sound like a dumb question and maybe it is... but I have a breeding pair of convicts that I am going to use some of the fry for feeders for my larger tank with a Green Terror and dithers....

my questions are: Do I just drop them in and let nature take its course?

My GT is still small, around 3-3.5 inches and eating a diet of various NLS pellets, algae pellets, etc should I even give feeders at this time??

Finally, what size should the fry be before I take them away from the con pair and feed to the other tank? (I am going to leave a few in the tank with the pair)

Thanks for the help....

when its normal feeding time just drop em in!!! depends on the size of the fish your feeding them too but 1-2cm it pretty good for large fish maybe even the size of standard comets is good so about 3- 4 cm

Basically yes. Just add a couple of the feeders into your system at a time and let the fish do what is natural. Half the value of using feeders comes from allowing your fish to engage in natural behavior and so stretch out their use by using them sparingly. After the first feeders are consumed wait a couple of days before adding another and so on. This way you can supplement the NLS diet with live feed and get the most from your fry. As for size, feeders should be small and taken easily as prey. The bones will be easier to digest and the end will come quickly for the fry. Though falling prey to a larger predator is the ultimate ending fo nearly all fish, we don't want any fish to suffer needlessly. Nature with compassion.
