Hello, my tank has 1 albino oscar who is like 6", 2 blood parrots of 5", 1 irediscent shark of 7" and a small pleco.

I really like the beauty of flowerhorns but I'm too afraid to add one in my tank.

I have seen many of them living in harmony with other fish but just can;t get that idea.

I cannot set-up a new tank also as my dad will scold me because I have made my house into a mini zoo :P

And I don't wanna give my parrots away in any case.

My tank is quite big 90 gallons.

Can I introduce a small flowerhorn of like 4" ?

Should I give away my oscar ?

Will the shark be okay ?

Help me, the LFS person told me that you can buy a baby FH partition the tank for a few days then leave it out but for that I'll have to do loads of work so a bit confused.

Please help or is there any hybrid of flowerhorn which I can keep which resembles to the FH ?

Don't laugh, help !!!!

your tank has a good stock already ! space would be an issue if your choosing to house your current fish in the 90 for life? and adding a flowerhorn just wouldnt work in such close quaters.

i also keep a ID shark and mine is 18" long they need loads of space as they are skittish fish and can grow to some size, but wold not get on with a FH as it will make the ID more sketchy!

the parrots and ID should be plenty of entertainment if they are anything like mine :)
best of luck

I agree a 90 will not house those fish and a FH for life a grown oscar I was told needs a minimum of 65 gallons and a ID shark gets huge so I really don't think a 90 gallon is going to be able to house those fish for life ... FH I don't know much about them but I know some of them get good size also and I heard they are very aggressive so think it would be a bad idea

First things first; you can't get a flowerhorn if you don't get rid of the ID shark. ID sharks get eating size when kept in good conditions, and your tank will become crowded.

I like that idea. Partition a section of the tank and pop the baby flowerhorn in there. If it shows any aggression, take it back. Otherwise, you can release it after a few days.
