Hey guys I have a male jag that's about 7-9inchs I just introduced a female to him which is a Lil bit smaller. They are in a 75 I know I need a bigger tank but this what I have now. My question is how long does it usual take for them to get comfortable with each other? The reason why I took the female is that I bought 2 cubans for my buddy.

First of all the tank is too small. I know you now that but you should do something about it. They can breed in 20 hours or in 10 weeks. Depends upon too many things. If the female is not ready to mate the male might try to kill her so it's important to have a larger tank for her to try to lose the male in a chase or hide. Be sure it's a female and let nature take its course. :)

i know its a female 100% sure. i know the tank is too small thats what i was afraid of. the male is very mean to her. she does have a decent spot to get away from him. im just hopin the male doesnt kill her. he has not hurt her in any serious way i can see, but when she comes out to swim the male goes right for her.

when i first put her in there, the locked mouths. she was defending herself quite well. now she is just trying to get away.

How big is she?

you might try a divider and see if he calms down in time

Agree try a divider for now. She is not ready to breed yet. Once she is full of eggs, she will be looking for him or show interest. 75g is alright for now. As long as they are the only ones in there.

Thanks guys. She is about 5-7inchs and the male is between 7-9inchs.

She's pretty mature. I'm sure she'll be ready for him soon.
