Hello,

I currently have a 17cm tiger oscar in a 140 gallon tank. I would like to introduce a 25cm arowana. I understand the arowana will need a larger tank and am in the process of building it. My question is, will the Oscar bully the arowana? Is the arowana big enough to hold its own, any experience on this situation?

Thanks, all comments are appreciated.

I would imagine the Oscar bullying the aro to death eventually. Aro's may be big predators but they aren't built for self defense against a smaller specie. But just like any other cichlid they all have their own personalities so it would be a toss up on what would all happen. Personally I wouldn't risk it.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with their own experience and knowledge on the matter.

Appreciate the response and I agree. Not worth the risk. I ended up going with 3 redhooks and now the oscar swims with them.

Thanks!

Good call. Nice to see people following advice instead of just getting the aro then being shocked when things go pearshaped :nilly:

Agreed. Seems like allot of ppl lately ask if something will work and if they don't get the answer they're looking for they just do it anyways. Granted I will admit that sometimes it will rarely work out but most of the time it just ends up in dead fish or just total chaos.
