Introducing male and female dovii

So I have a 3.5 inch 98% sure male dovii and my brother in law has a 3 inch he says female dovii my guy has been in my 220 for a month now can I introduce the female now while they are small? Is this best? I'm hoping for a par there's lots of cave areas for them to hide in and I have a 50 incase I need to move the female I'm hoping for a pair I hear once they pair off they don't really fight that much

They are a little small to pair up. In that size tank with their size you should be fine, once they hit the right age they will pair up. I have not really had any trouble pairing fish, getting a pair that gets along all the time will be more of a challenge.
Like you said having plenty of hiding spaces is the best. That tank should be good for years. They should pair up in the next couple inches or so.
