I'm trying to get Marley (my 10" jag) on a new diet. I got him for free from a lady that was supposed to babysitting him for 2 weeks, and its now been 3 years and she still hasn't heard from the owner. She really had no clue how to take care of him, and was feeding him the $1.99 pet store special goldfish flakes. I really don't know why he is alive today, not only was his diet horrible, but he also had no heater and was living in a 25 gallon tank(which had a thick layer of goldfish flake all over the bottom because she would over feed him and wouldnt scoop out the extra). I have to give her some credit though, she did go out and buy him a feeder fish about once a week.

Anyway, I'm trying to get him on "New Life Spectrum Large Fish Formula", and he won't eat it. I've had him for a 7 days now. I tried feeding him the new food two days after I got him, and of course he didn't eat it. However, I didn't want to stress him out too much since I just got him so I threw him a feeder just so he could eat something that was familiar (because there is no way in hell i was giving him goldfish flake!).

The pellets I'm trying to feed him now sink fairly quickly, they don't float like the flakes did. I really don't want to have to try and find a floating pellet because I REALLY like new life spectrum as I have had nothing but amazing results with it, and they do not carry a floating pellet. I don't want to go ahead and starve him until he'll eat anything I drop without getting a second opinion first. This is my first experience with both new world cichlids and large fish. Plus I'm really attached to him already, so I don't want to risk killing him. Any advice you guys could offer me would be fantastic. :nilly:
