How would one go about introducing a wild caught fish into an already up and running and stable tank? I've been catching these beauties in the canal behind my house and was wondering if I could possibly keep one.
quarantine them in a quarantine tank for about a week or two.
watch the tank and the fish closely to see if it's showing any
signs parasites, worms & etc. after a week or two if it looks like
everything is ok and it's healthy you can move it over to your
main tank.
do not put it in your sump that isnt a quarantine tank... lol
seen some people do this and ended up killing their whole live
stock...
Thanks Tomojsg I have an extra 40 gal breeder that just might do the job. Not for ones as large as my pic, but like piranhaman says, some smaller one. Would you guys happen to know the exact ID of the Pbass?
If you would like to put them in your tank, You can't directly put them into your aquarium after bringing it home. You have put the fishes in a bag and let it float on the water surface to let it get used to your aquarim water temperature. While doing that, open your bag and scoup a little water into your bag of fishes to let it get used to your water, continue the process for at least about 45 - 1 hr...well at least for me. I've got 1 wild caught peacock bass 2 wild caught temensis and 1 wild caught geophagus altifrons in my aquarium now.
