Just wanted to give a brief preliminary intro:
I am a marine scientist (OSU, LSU and UW-Madison) that specializes in aquaculture and fish nutrition. We started our indoor recirc. facility here in Ohio 25 years ago using rehabilitated poultry buildings (40'x350' long), and have become a small family attraction with lots of hands-on aquatic displays (salamanders to snappers), trout feeding, and a sturgeon petting zoo that has become a big hit. Our white sturgeon are now 4-5 feet long, and it has been 17 years since we got them as 5 inch fingelings. Our solar-heated fish barn has a large number of raceways and tanks, and we are continuing to add new display tanks for our visitors. We would like to build a monster tank sometime soon (on our typical shoe-string budget), and feature large examples of native freshwater fish. Paddlefish and white shrimp are on my short list for next year.
Thanks, and glad to be onboard!

Welcome to MFK..

WELCOME!

Wow, sounds like you will be a great addition of knowledge to MFK.

By chance, could you please share how you prep your food for your fish. More specifically, how do you defrost your food to receive the maximum nutrional value for your fish?

welcome mfk, im sure you will some excellent advice and comments,

Hey Dr. Dave. Welcome to MFK. All of your Monster dreams will come true here in due time of course.

Hey I have to write a paper next week about what i want to be after college for a career(Freshmen now). And I was really looking into aquaculture(can't believe you posted about aquaculture actually) and would be really interested in seeing your place. I would like to know how you have everything setup and how it goes to have a place like you do. Do you breed your fish? It would really help on my essay and would be a real good life experience. Plus I want to see that sturgeon!!!!!!!!:headbang2

WOW i was thinking about getting in to marine biology when i was about 7 (advanced haha) bet what you do is amazing and you have great fun doing it!
