Hey you guys! Im new to MFK and im glad to be here. Im hoping you guys will help me alot with any questions i have and i hope im able to help answer any questions you may have. My name is Kris and im fairly new to fish aquariums. Ive had my 180g for almost two years now. I currently have only 5 fish in there but there monsters! The tank looks small in the picture but it isnt, 72" x 24" x 24".
In there I have:
2- LongNose Gar- 13"-15"
1- Tiger Shovelnose catfish- 15"
1- Common Plecostomus- 17"
1- Peacock Bass- 16"
I also have a 10g and a 37g but there empty sadly right now. Looking to fill them!
Any tips on or comments on my tank?
Thank you looking at my post!

Looks good. Thats the same size tank I have. You may struggle with sizes later on, but nice fish!

The size of the fish? Or the size of the tank? The fish, i already have a home when they get to big, or if im at the right finacial state ill get a much bigger tank. The tank size is defiantly alot of upkeep. Thanks the though! i recommend these types if fish for anyone who wants freshwater monsters. Especially the gars, there cool and unique i think.

I have a florida/spotted in mine. I like peacocks but I cant really go any bigger tank wise. The shovenose is mainly what I meant size wise, but you have plans so all is good. What are you running filtration wise?

Yeah the gars are cool, but they have a disease and if you wanna know more information about it and if possible, could help me out, im gonna post a new thread about it. Otherwise the TSNC will get big eventually haha, and he is a big eater! But he is very skiddish and doesnt like the peacock. The peacock is fairly new and the shovelnose doesnt like her. When she eats its very aggresive and makes alot of commotion and the shovelnose will dart back and fourth across the tank hitting everything full speed in his path. I dont know why he does it but it bothers me. Anyways, filtration. Its your standard gravity filtration. I dont know a whole lot about it. I bought it on criagslist. Water goes to the back corners of the tank where its trapped and it goes through a sponge filter, drops down into tubes and goes the main filter. Then goes through a carbon sponge filter pad, then bio balls and then more carbon. After it gets cycled back up into the tank and repeats the process.IMG_20130909_171157_780.jpg

Yeah I wondered if you had a sump or externals. Sump on mine too. Id be interested in the far disease thread, but don't know how much help I can give.

Interesting, never seen that before. It might be worth trying one of the vitamin soaks available as well as the other suggestions. Oh and I dont know what you did about the leporinis, but the one I had was evil! Lol just a heads up
