hi, i know theres a lake around here (wisconsin) thats loaded with goby. the DNR says to kill any you catch. but i was thinking about keeping one. my friend said its a plain looking goby (light brow).
do these live over the winter?

You should check with Fish and Game just to make sure it's okay to keep. It seems that if they want you to kill everyone caught maybe it's because it's a nuisance or invasive fish. That's why I don't think you can keep a live one. But, I don't know so just contact the Fish and Game. The Doctor.

I live in wisconsin too and i use to catch those round gobies all the time in LM. They are somewhat tricky to keep alive when transporting them because they need ALOt of oxygen. They need cold, well oxygenated water. they're somewhat predatory and eat live foods. If they are legal to keep..they are however a little tricky to keep alive and dont really thrive in captivity. A little ironic i think.

If it's anything like Ohio, you can get in pretty big trouble for having any live round gobies with you. They are very invasive in Lake Erie and other places. They are however pretty cool looking IMO. They aren't that colorful, but they have an interesting pattern of lots of muted colors to them.

hm thanks for the input. i kinda forgot about this thread.
i might get one but im not sure, since i see they're predatory.
also im not sure if your supposed to kill them, i just think that's what he told me.

@parasite paradise
