Since this is my first post on MFK (I usually just lurk), I will take this time to say hi, my name is Justin, I live in Canada, and LOVE polypterus.

Anyways, back too the matter at hand. I was asked by a gentleman at my workplace to identify the worm that he has been raising in his 55G freshwater setup. He described it as about 13 inches long, black, and about the width of his thumb. He said that he has had it for about a year now, and it has been consistently consuming whole .5 inch white clouds. I can honestly say, that I am at a huge loss as to what this thing is. Saying that, ANY helpful contributions to this investigation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance: Justin

put a pic up man it might help id it. why wis he raising a worm any ways. thats a new one on me. lol

Unfortunatly, he had no pics available. He was VERY steadfast when I tried to rule out different fish species, that it has no visible eyes, or scales, plus he said that he can bend it back over itself too a degree that even a ropefish would take some serious damage, and it just unbend and moves away. I am sorry for the lack of info, but that is what makes this a tricky one. :/

So some guy just brought up the topic of this big unknown black worm that he feeds clouds too and bends into weird shapes???... Sorry, but this sounds fishy.

I wonder what creature would stand being bend around by its owner like an animal balloon. O.O

He brought up the question about the worm itself. The bending and such was me trying figure out what he has. I'm pretty sure what he meant by the "bending it" was that he has bent it with his net, or something along those lines. I am not saying that this guy is completely 100% telling the truth, since I have not seen it, but I thought that since I could not even come close to an answer, that I would ask it here. It is more than possible I guess, that buddy was trying to trick me (which if that's the case, he succeeded), but I have been helping this guy out with some of his cichlid tanks for about 3 years now, so I will go as far as to say that 'I' trust him, but who knows. :/
