Hello,

I am thinking about investing in a Hammers Cobalt Blue Lobster in a few months. It would be in a separate tank from my fish, so they wouldn't be bothered. I have a few questions, however, before I buy it.

1. What do they exactly eat, and how many times a time do they eat?
2. What kinds of plants and rocks do they need in their tank?
3. How big is it on average?

Also, please give me any tips on owning one of these. I want to be prepared for when I get it.

Thanks,

CVC

whats that?

looks like a normal blue crayfish "selectively bred" to be that color

ajust a blue crayfish.

1 you can feed them anything, as a scavengers he'll hardly turn down anything. They seem to go nuts for algae wafers.

2. Just give them lots of caves and stuff to hide behind, he'll also eat any decaying plant matter should u decide to go live.

3. Ive seem them big around 6 inches.

Make sure the lid on the tank is secure and there are no gaps for him to climb out of.

they will also eat small fish while they sleep at night, so watch out

Make sure you get what you pay for. Seen people get brown ones and told they will go blue after a few moults and as their advertising suggests "Because of their selective breeding, they will not loose their coloration, except in times of stress. They may arrive in a brown coloration due to the stress of shipping, but will eventually regain their bright blue coloration." , complete rubbish, crayfish do NOT change color when stressed............ Personally I would not touch them as most of the time their information for keeping them is completely wrong and the species and description are also wrong.....
